10 Unusual Gifts for a Wedding

Unusual Gifts for a Wedding

You’ve been invited to a wedding, again? The bride and the groom are preparing themselves to say ‘I do’, and you have to encourage yourself to think ‘I will bring these people something’.

You’ve been to so many similar events in your adult life and you’re in despair about what to get them, while still remaining somewhat creative? You’re thinking about something that won’t fall into a pile of dull and useless gifts?

Never fear; here are some ideas on how to bring the lucky couple a unique wedding gift and earn yourself a medal for the most memorable gift.

If the bride and the groom are a bit adventurous, you can get them harness sphereing for two. The happy couple will already be in their lovey-dovey bubble, so why not strap them into a different one and roll them down a hill at 30mph? It will certainly be a memorable experience – holding hands in the sphere while running down the hill. Let’s just hope it doesn’t get too rocky; in the sphere or within the marriage.

Is your couple geeky? Are they both crazy about comic books? Why not getting them a personalized comic book with the two of them as the main characters? If you’re creative, you can do it yourself. However, you can also write down a few stories about the happy couple and leave the job to a professional. They will love reading a love story with the two of them as heroes.

How about an anniversary wine box? Imagine a wooden box with three shelves stamped with a ‘one’, ‘five’ and ‘ten’-year mark, each to be opened on their special day. This way, every few years they get to remember how great your gift was! Just take your time to pick three nice bottles of wine or champagne you know they will both enjoy.

Do they both love tattoos? You can gift them a session at the local tattoo parlour, of course, if you’re sure they’re any good. They have already said ’till death do us part’ so there is no shame in having matching tattoos. You can either suggest some ideas for them to the tattooist, or let them be creative themselves. Nothing says I love you more than a matching boat tattoo, depicting the two of them sailing together through life, through good times and bad.

Onto the next!

If the groom is not afraid of heights, you can organize an airplane or helicopter flyover for newlyweds. Imagine seeing them fly over the city they first met in a small two-seater. Of course, do not forget to arrange a video recording of the whole experience. A near-death experience, i.e. squirming in a metal box at more than 10,000 feet, may strengthen their feelings for each other.

This one also goes for the more adventurous types. Arrange a submarine ride for them so they can dive into the water and observe the local fish and other animals without getting wet. Most agencies also have a diver employed with whom you might agree to swim near the glass with a poster saying something like ‘Congratulations, you two!’ But please, make sure that the poster is waterproof.

The next idea is only for the pet-friendly couples. Get them something like a tortoise. In case you don’t lose them or accidentally step on them, tortoises can live up to 70 years, long enough to become a testament to someone’s marriage. You can name it by scrambling together the names of the bride and the groom. Again, let’s just hope no one will get offended thinking you saw a resemblance between the newlyweds and their new favourite pet.

If you know they are both keen fans of, say, football, how about getting them a couple of season tickets? This is a great idea how they can spend time together and enjoy the show. In case they’re not sports fans, a cinema or a theatre yearly subscription will work just as well. Try to think how they would like to spend time together.

Do they have a country house? Why not get them a fancy garden tools set? Gardening is an extremely relaxing activity, something a person might need once they get married. Just kidding, of course. If they are nature lovers and like to keep their yard in tip-top shape, it’s a perfect gift.

Last but not least, get them a bunch of unusual flowers from Hipper.com. We don’t like to advertise our site on the blog too often, but hey, high quality flowers are still high quality flowers. And we want you to have them. And, also, we want to make a profit.

A sort of a quid pro quo deal, isn’t it?

Enjoy the wedding!
